The fourth domain reflects the professional responsibilities of a teacher both inside and outside the classroom. This domain encompasses the professional roles of the teacher in record keeping, participating in constant reflection and professional development, and maintaining healthy relationships among colleagues and families.
Strong communication between school and home is beneficial for the growth and achievement of students. To promote and encourage a positive relationship, I send home weekly classroom updates. The "Friday News" covers a variety of topics such as upcoming due dates or events. Students are instructed to get their "Friday News" signed and brought back to class. This artifact is a clear demonstration of my ability to communicate the instructional program to parents/guardians.
School or grade-level collaboration is done weekly at my current place of employment. The second artifact on this page is one of the collaboration forms filled out during a grade-level meeting. In addition to grade-level collaboration, district-wide collaborations also promote a strong, cohesive relationship between schools. Participating in these professional communities allows teachers the opportunity to reflect on teaching practices as well as share innovative ideas and strategies.
